It is incredibly easy to forget about your boiler until it breaks down. In order to avoid the sudden shock of a breakdown and lets face it, most boilers breakdown during the winter when they’re most needed, it is recommended that you get your boiler regularly serviced; almost all manufacturers and heating engineers recommend at least once per year. There are lots of benefits, as we’ve discussed below…
Reduce boiler breakdown/running costs
You can save money on two accounts.
First, you can save money on your boilers running costs. Heating engineers can check to see if there is any fuel wastage throughout the route of the system. If so, we can make small changes to make sure that you are getting the results that your money is paying for and ensure that your boiler is operating at its optimum running efficiency– saving you money in the long-term.
Second, you can reduce the need for an expensive boiler repair. It’s always best to mitigate problems early on before they become deeper, much more expensive problems in the future. Also, not to forget, should the boiler become irreparable and in need of a replacement, you’ll likely be without one for a short while, leaving you with a cold home in the meantime. Avoid this risk by booking in a boiler service.
Maintain the guarantee
Most manufacturers offer a complimentary extended guarantee
with their boilers straight after installation, although the length of the guarantee
often depends on a) the type of boiler and b) the installer.
For instance, as a Baxi Approved installer, we can offer up to a 10-year guarantee on a large number of Baxi boilers that we install, covering you for both parts and labour for complete peace of mind. However, Baxi and most other manufacturers also state that the boiler must be serviced at least once per year in order to benefit from their no-catch guarantee.
Safety is paramount
In 2013, the UK Department of Health found that over 4,000 people were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning, where most of these treatments were required as a result of faulty central heating systems. Avoid this potentially very dangerous risk and get your boiler serviced. After all, your own safety is of our utmost concern.
Are you a landlord? Stay within the law
If you are a landlord of any letting property, from a two-bedroom house in Ripley to a caravan site in Nottingham, you are responsible for the safety of your tenants. As such, you are legally required to ensure that all gas fittings and gas-enabled appliances are checked with regards to their safety and appropriateness. The perk? Stay within the confines of the law and avoid the risk of a huge fine, surely that’s worthwhile?
